We have recently agreed a practice policy that we will no longer prescribe these drugs for fear of flying. WebBenzodiazepines (including alprazolam and clonazepam) are not recommended for use as short term anxiolytics, eg fear of flying. Use of antihistamines with sedating side effects such as dimenhydrinate (Gravol or Dramamine) or diphenhydramine (Benadryl) can leave some people overly groggy, not desirable should there be an emergency on board.
