He can turn the back on by itself and it works just fine. But when he turns the back and bottom button on high, it kicks off in about 2-3 seconds. If he turns it on Medium setting, it takes it about 5-6 seconds, and it he turns it on low it stays on about 10-15 seconds.

If something is wrong with it, the alternative coolants won't do much for you either. get you a good temp gauge., the coolant system is made to operate around the 170-200* range. Thermostat opens at 160*, fan kicks on at around 205* and off at 200*.
